Belting a scarf and making it into more of a piece of clothing rather than just an accessory is something I've wanted to try for a while, but I thought it'd be a bit too fussy for me. But after having one of those classic 'I have nothing to wear' mornings I decided to give it a go and I actually really like the result.

I went for a lightweight scarf for a bit of a boho feel, but it'd also work so well with a chunkier knit, and be a bit more weather-appropriate. With a thin, simple belt it gives a really nice silhouette rather than adding extra padding which I thought it might! I can't wait to try this with my tartan scarf.

I was lucky enough to win this gorgeous Lola & Me clutch bag in a twitter competition a few weeks ago, and I've been dying to find an outfit to wear it with. I'm so glad I came across their website because their bags and accessories are absolutely beautiful! Their motto is 'Be bold. Be bright.' - something their products definitely live up to. I love the bold, geometric patterns and primary colours - they'd definitely bring heaps of fun and excitement to any look!

I love this particular bag because I think it works for any season. Right now the triangles remind me of Christmas trees and snowflakes and the colour is such an icy, wintery blue. But the brightness and fun will also be perfect for summer days & festivals - a definite all-rounder!

I'm loving that the highstreet have brought loads of colour into their AW14 collections, rather than sticking to deep autumnal shades. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of burgundy & khaki, but I love that the pastels from summer are sticking around.

Mixing pastels with black is a great way to make it more winter-appropriate. I think contrasting the fluffy jumper & heavy jacket really works and also makes the look less 'candy'. I also love this skirt - it's so girly and is also SO comfortable because it doesn't have a waistband (perfect for eating out in!).

How're you wearing pastels this winter?

3 WAYS TO WEAR FAUX FUR

Love From Lisa 3 ways to wear faux fur
Faux fur is always popular in the colder months, particularly in the lead up to Christmas (Eeee!). It's super cosy and warm, it's stylish and has a romantic, wintery feel about it. Apart from the obvious faux fur coat (which I love and want), I've put together a few cheaper and subtler ways to work faux fur this winter...

A gilet is a great alternative to a coat because it doesn't add as much bulk. This Topshop one comes in so many different colours. It is pretty pricey at £65, but if you went for something neutral like black or brown you'd get so much wear out of it! If it's really chilly you could also layer a leather jacket underneath for added warmth.

Although cream/white fur probably isn't for everyone, I think it's got a beautiful Christmassy feel about it. I also love how the highstreet is giving us such great alternatives to blacks and greys - pastels are wearable for winter too! As these coats are collarless, the stole also has a practical use - it'll keep you extra cosy & warm!

Finally a bag is a perfect way to introduce faux fur into your look. I think teaming this with black accessories like the boots and the hat looks really stylish. I love the trench coat, but it'd also look great with a leather biker jacket.

What are your favourite ways to wear faux fur?

NAILS OF THE WEEK | NAILS INC ALEXA LEATHER

Love From Lisa Nails Inc Alexa Leather Nail Polish

Love From Lisa Nails Inc Alexa Leather Nail Polish

Black nail varnish isn't just for Halloween, I find myself wearing it throughout autumn and winter. I think it's super stylish and it goes with everything - there's no danger of an outfit and nails clash.

Glossy is always good, but for something edgier I love this leather-look polish from Alexa Chung's fabric-inspired range for Nails Inc. It's a really opaque polish, you could probably get away with one coat, and dries with a matte, textured finish. I was kind of sceptical before trying it out, but I've tested it against my leather jacket and it is surprisingly similar!

I'm definitely coming around to the idea of textured nail polishes, they're such a simple way to do something a little bit different with your nails.

Do you like textured polishes? Have you tried any of the Nails Inc fabric-inspired collection?
