FASHION | HEART PRINT SHIRT

Does anyone else find it hard to put together nice work outfits? When you can't really afford to go shopping, trawling through your stuff is pretty uninspiring. But when you come across a forgotten gem in your wardrobe (or your sister's...) it's amazing!

As the shirt is super-girly, I went for a spiky statement necklace to give it a bit of an edge. I love the whole chunky necklace + collar look - as the colours here are quite muted I don't think it's too in-your-face.

I bought the skirt about three years ago from H&M and haven't worn it in ages - I love finding something so old that when you wear it it feels new again. The trench coat is also something I've had for years - apparently my wardrobe is having a rebirth!

I know I do quite a bit of nail art on here but at the moment I am loving nude, minimal nails! I think after the brights and florals of summer I'm after something a bit subtler. This is where this gorge Barry M shade steps in - I love colours like this. They just look super-chic, neat and fresh - it's like giving your walls a new lick of paint!

What are your favourite autumn nail shades?

It's been a while since I've done an OOTD style post and I've missed them - they're definitely one of my favourites to do. I'm super excited about autumn fashion so I'm equally eager to get on with some seasonal outfit posts!

On to this outfit though. The dress is a Primark buy, but I have to admit how it looks now isn't how it was when I bought it. Maybe I'm just shorter than the average shopper, but I always find that Primark dresses are a bit too long - this one was almost knee-length! So I've taken this one up a good couple of inches - now I think it's an ideal length for wearing with or without tights.

I've also been living in these boots for the last few weeks. They're a great height and are actually pretty comfortable to wear. They go with jeans and dresses meaning they've become my go-to shoes! I'm not a big "shoe person" so having a pair that goes with everything makes choosing outfits a lot easier.

DIY: LACE COLLAR

Love From Lisa DIY: Lace Collar
Love From Lisa DIY: Lace Collar
I say this is a DIY but there's not much to it really. As someone very into fashion it's easy to get carried away with buying and wanting new things, but it's also easy to update your own wardrobe if you know how. 'Upcycling' is huge in both fashion and furnishings right now and as well as being environmentally-friendly, it can save you a lot of money too.

One of my favourite autumn looks at the moment is a soft knit with a lace collar peeking out. Obviously you can buy these but as I already had a top with a plain collar I decided to update it myself. You can get strips of lace like this in lots of colours from haberdasheries super cheaply and either by hand or with a sewing machine simply sew it on - there's not much more I can say! It's such a simple thing to do but makes such a difference to the overall look.

You could also try sewing on lace in a contrasting colour, adding buttons or sequins or glue on little studs for different looks.

BEDROOM DECOR INSPIRATION | PINTEREST

I've been a bit disorganised with my blog for the past few weeks. I've just started an internship and what can I say, working 5 days a week is a bit of a shock to the system! But I've settled in now and I'm back to blogging, so fingers crossed I'll be doing more than one post per week.

If you saw my previous autumn fashion post (here) you'll know I've been loving Pinterest recently. For a while I've been wanting to decorate my room and if you're a Pinterest user you'll know how amazing it is for gorgeous interior design inspiration.

As we're moving into colder months I want a space that's cosy and relaxing - I'm thinking soft greys, dusky pinks and of course fairy lights! I love different textures and having loads of cushions and throws dotted around. My biggest problem is that my room's considerably smaller than these so I need to be careful not to over-do it...

HOW-TO: VINTAGE-STYLE HOMEMADE BUNTING

Easy Vintage Homemade Bunting Step by Step
Bunting is one of the easiest things to make if you're new to sewing and by using a sewing machine you can achieve a neat, professional finish. It's a great way to use up small pieces of fabric or you can buy off-cuts cheaply from many haberdasheries. Bunting is also a super-easy way to brighten up a room without spending a lot - I loved using bunting to personalise cold, uninviting uni rooms!

You will need:
24 triangles of fabric (12 plain for backing and 12 patterned for the fronts)
3.5 metres of bias binding
2 buttons
thread in a matching colour

Easy Vintage Homemade Bunting Step by Step
1. Make sure you have everything you need including the plain fabric for the backs of the triangles. You can use as many different patterns as you like for the fronts.

2. Pin one front fabric and one back fabric with the right sides together. Leave the short sides open.

3. Sew down the long sides using a straight stitch about 1cm from the edge of the fabric.

4. To ensure you get a nice sharp point when you turn the triangle the right way snip the ends away to reduce the bulk. Turn out to the correct way.

5.  Press the triangles and trim the short side to make them even. Carefully apply the bias binding ensuring that the fabric is tucked securely inside. Make sure the triangles are evenly spaced along the binding. Leave about 30cm of binding at either end to allow for the loop.

6. Fold the ends of the binding over to make a loop. Hand-stitch it securely and add a button to disguise the stitches.

This bunting was super-easy - cutting out the triangles was actually the most time-consuming part! I love how they instantly update a room and I think they'd make such a lovely gift for someone.

AUTUMN FASHION INSPIRATION | PINTEREST

Love From Lisa Pinterest Autumn Fashion Inspiration
Source: All pinterest here
Even though summer's coming to an end it does mean there's autumn fashion to look forward to as we head into September. I've been trawling Pinterest (anyone else slightly addicted?) for autumn fashion inspiration and now I'm definitely excited for chunky knits, cosy scarves and autumnal shades. I'm particularly loving jumpers tucked into skirts with opaques and heeled ankle boots.

I'd love to see your fashion inspiration so leave me links to your Pinterest fashion boards!
