NAILS | CHRISTMAS IN A BOTTLE

Love From Lisa Barry M Christmas Tree Nail Art

Love From Lisa Barry M Christmas Tree Nail Art
BARRY M NAIL PAINT - CHRISTMAS TREE

Have you ever seen a more christmassy nail varnish?!

If you read my blog regularly you'll know I'm a massive nail art person, so one of my absolute favourite things about Christmas is Christmas nails. I love glittery polishes, especially at Christmas, they look really special but require minimal effort. The only downside is removing it - you know what I'm talking about!

This particular polish has tiny moons and stars and various sized sparkly bits. I like an opaque finish with the glitter pretty much covering the whole nail so I did about 3 coats. But it'd also look beautiful layered over another colour.

I also got my sister to do this cute fairisle design. It looks pretty complex, but if you break it down and plan what you want before you start it is achievable I promise!

I'd love to see some of your Christmas nail posts!

CHRISTMAS & BLOG-BIRTHDAY GIVEAWAY!

Last month was Love From Lisa's first blog birthday! To celebrate and say thanks to all you lovely followers I've decided to hold a giveaway with Muru, a London-based jewellery brand specialising in beautiful, dainty pieces in sterling silver, gold vermeil and rose gold vermeil.

Each Muru design has it's own individual meaning which gives them a unique and inspirational quality. The particular design I've chosen for the giveaway is the gold vermeil wishbone talisman which is symbolic of wishes granted as well as luck and good fortune.

Muru pieces are also popular with celebs (check our their impressive 'As Seen On' page here). The wishbone is a particular favourite of Made In Chelsea's Louise Thompson - who wouldn't want that MIC girl's style?!

This necklace would be a gorgeous prezzie for a family member or bezzie, or (even better) keep it as a special treat for yourself this Christmas! Enter below using Rafflecopter.

Good luck & thanks guys!

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS UNDER £20

2. Robin

It's my first post of December and I am so excited for Christmas - it's Christmas baking, films and hot chocolate galore! This weekend and next are probably when you're going to be adorning your homes with reams of fairy lights and cute decorations so I've put together some of my favourites from the high street. They've definitely outdone themselves this year - there are so many affordable bits out there without being tacky. I particularly love the Scandinavian style red and white decorations - I'd never want to take them down!

BELTED SCARF & 'LOLA AND ME' CLUTCH

Belt - Primark

Belting a scarf and making it into more of a piece of clothing rather than just an accessory is something I've wanted to try for a while, but I thought it'd be a bit too fussy for me. But after having one of those classic 'I have nothing to wear' mornings I decided to give it a go and I actually really like the result.

I went for a lightweight scarf for a bit of a boho feel, but it'd also work so well with a chunkier knit, and be a bit more weather-appropriate. With a thin, simple belt it gives a really nice silhouette rather than adding extra padding which I thought it might! I can't wait to try this with my tartan scarf.

I was lucky enough to win this gorgeous Lola & Me clutch bag in a twitter competition a few weeks ago, and I've been dying to find an outfit to wear it with. I'm so glad I came across their website because their bags and accessories are absolutely beautiful! Their motto is 'Be bold. Be bright.' - something their products definitely live up to. I love the bold, geometric patterns and primary colours - they'd definitely bring heaps of fun and excitement to any look!

I love this particular bag because I think it works for any season. Right now the triangles remind me of Christmas trees and snowflakes and the colour is such an icy, wintery blue. But the brightness and fun will also be perfect for summer days & festivals - a definite all-rounder!

I'm loving that the highstreet have brought loads of colour into their AW14 collections, rather than sticking to deep autumnal shades. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of burgundy & khaki, but I love that the pastels from summer are sticking around.

Mixing pastels with black is a great way to make it more winter-appropriate. I think contrasting the fluffy jumper & heavy jacket really works and also makes the look less 'candy'. I also love this skirt - it's so girly and is also SO comfortable because it doesn't have a waistband (perfect for eating out in!).

How're you wearing pastels this winter?

3 WAYS TO WEAR FAUX FUR

Love From Lisa 3 ways to wear faux fur
Faux fur is always popular in the colder months, particularly in the lead up to Christmas (Eeee!). It's super cosy and warm, it's stylish and has a romantic, wintery feel about it. Apart from the obvious faux fur coat (which I love and want), I've put together a few cheaper and subtler ways to work faux fur this winter...

How to wear a faux fur gilet
Links: Gilet | Jumper | Skinnies | Boots | Bag
A gilet is a great alternative to a coat because it doesn't add as much bulk. This Topshop one comes in so many different colours. It is pretty pricey at £65, but if you went for something neutral like black or brown you'd get so much wear out of it! If it's really chilly you could also layer a leather jacket underneath for added warmth.

How to wear a faux fur stole
Links: Stole | Coat | Skirt | Satchel

Although cream/white fur probably isn't for everyone, I think it's got a beautiful Christmassy feel about it. I also love how the highstreet is giving us such great alternatives to blacks and greys - pastels are wearable for winter too! As these coats are collarless, the stole also has a practical use - it'll keep you extra cosy & warm!

How to wear a faux fur bag
Links: Bag | Coat | Jeans | Hat | Boots
Finally a bag is a perfect way to introduce faux fur into your look. I think teaming this with black accessories like the boots and the hat looks really stylish. I love the trench coat, but it'd also look great with a leather biker jacket.

What are your favourite ways to wear faux fur?

NAILS OF THE WEEK | NAILS INC ALEXA LEATHER

Love From Lisa Nails Inc Alexa Leather Nail Polish
Love From Lisa Nails Inc Alexa Leather Nail Polish
Love From Lisa Nails Inc Alexa Leather Nail Polish

Black nail varnish isn't just for Halloween, I find myself wearing it throughout autumn and winter. I think it's super stylish and it goes with everything - there's no danger of an outfit and nails clash.

Glossy is always good, but for something edgier I love this leather-look polish from Alexa Chung's fabric-inspired range for Nails Inc. It's a really opaque polish, you could probably get away with one coat, and dries with a matte, textured finish. I was kind of sceptical before trying it out, but I've tested it against my leather jacket and it is surprisingly similar!

I'm definitely coming around to the idea of textured nail polishes, they're such a simple way to do something a little bit different with your nails.

Do you like textured polishes? Have you tried any of the Nails Inc fabric-inspired collection?

FLORALS & FEDORAS

Floral shirt, fedora, black trousers, ankle boots - New Look.
Rings & necklaces - H&M

When I planned this outfit I didn't intentionally choose all New Look items, but then I guess about half my wardrobe is from there so it was bound to happen!

Even though we're heading into November, I'm not ready to give up florals and with the gorgeous, sunny, autumn weather why should I?! I love that the darker tones of this shirt make it work for autumn - it'll brighten up many a dull winter day I'm sure, and remind me of spring days.

I'm normally a jeans girl, but these black cigarette trousers are a nice alternative. You can't see in the photos but they have gold, contrasting zips on the hips which are a cute touch. Also you can't go wrong with a fedora - I think they're gonna become my staple autumn accessory! I absolutely love this deep burgundy colour, I think it's my favourite winter shade.

NON-FANCY DRESS HALLOWEEN IDEAS

Links: Burgundy Velvet Dress | Velvet Chokers | Faux Leather Skirt | Burgundy Platforms | Teal Faux Fur Collar | Black Lace Crop Top | Green Velvet Bralet | Black Faux Fur Cape | Black Statement Necklace | Blue Velvet Dress | Black Lace Cat Ears | Navy Velvet Cami | Black Platform Boots | Black Skater Dress

I do love the idea of fancy dress. But sometimes, when you're on a budget, if you're gonna buy something you want to be able to wear it more than just once! Luckily the highstreet is awash with deep velvet and gothic lace - perfect for Halloween. Plus they can be incorporated into your wardrobe meaning that you get more wear out of your hard-earned pennies!

These pieces aren't what I'd usually wear but I love all of them! The lace-trimmed faux leather skirt is one of my absolute faves. I'd team it with the velvet bralet & dark lipstick for a vampy Halloween look or with a simple white shirt for everyday.

What are you wearing this Halloween?

Love From Lisa Nails of the Week Barry M Paprika
I'm a huge fan of deep, dark nail colours during autumn and I am loving Barry M's current shades. I've said before that Barry M nail varnishes are some of my faves because they're so affordable but also such great quality, and this one doesn't disappoint! It applies perfectly with no 'gloopiness' and doesn't streak.

I think you could possibly get away with just one coat, but I like to make the colour super opaque and strong so I did two. The more I look at this colour the more I love it. It's called Paprika but to me it just looks like milk chocolate - maybe that's why I like it so much!

I do love a good old fluffy cardigan in the autumn and this one from New Look is perfect. It's an eyelash knit, but importantly isn't at all scratchy like so many are! I've found myself throwing this on time and time again as the weather's been getting colder. It's quite slouchy and oversized so it makes for quite a casual look, but I'm thinking of belting it around the waist for a more defined shape.

PINTEREST LATELY...

Find all images here.

It's taken me a while to properly get into Pinterest but now I can spend ages scrolling through pages and pages of amazing photos! I particularly love trawling through the fashion pages. Not only are the outfits gorgeous, but the actual photos are beautiful too - I'd love to get my fashion pics looking like that!

I've recently been pinning loads of bedroom inspirations and ideas. I want to redecorate my room in the next few months and Pinterest is an absolute dream for interiors. I've pinned so many though it's gonna be tricky deciding on one style...

I also like pinning things I see when I'm online shopping rather than bookmarking them. I like keeping them all in the same place so I can scroll through when I'm stuck for ideas!

Faux Fur Scarf - River Island

Looking at these photos it's safe to say autumn is definitely here! Although the temperature's dropped I am liking the crisp sunny days and crunchy autumn leaves (the rain can stay away though!).

Saying that, I think it's still been warm enough to not need a winter coat just yet, so I've been hanging onto this summer's kimono trend. This is technically a shirt but I prefer to wear it undone and loose. To add an autumn vibe I've paired it with my faux fur scarf/stole. I love how faux fur looks - both stylish and super-cosy!

Also just gotta say, this may be the best I've ever done a bun - I normally have at least ten attempts trying to achieve that undone, effortless look before giving up!

I used Barry M Nude for the base and the dot is a Collection berry shade - I don't know the name because it's rubbed off the bottle...

I'm really into simple, minimal nail art at the moment. Not only do they look pretty stylish but they're also a lot quicker to do! There's not a lot I can say about these so I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. You can check out my other minimal nail art ideas in this post here.

TARTAN LOVE

Love From Lisa: Tartan Trend

Links L-R: Crop Top / Cigarette Trousers / Blanket Cardigan / Playsuit / Bow / Crop Top / T-Shirt / Pencil Skirt / Duffle Coat / Dress / Cigarette Trousers
If you read my last post you'll know tartan is one of my favourite autumn trends. It was huge last year and I'm very happy that it's still all over the highstreet! These are some of my favourite picks. I particularly love the Oasis co-ords in the bottom right hand corner, I think they're gorgeous together but would also work well with other separates. I'm also really drawn to the blanket wrap cardigan - who doesn't want to walk around in a blanket all day?! Perfect for a casual weekend outfit.

THE TARTAN SCARF

Love From Lisa Fashion The Tartan Scarf
Love From Lisa Fashion The Tartan Scarf

One super exciting thing about autumn is that it's finally time to break out the tartan again! At the moment I seem to be instantly drawn to anything tartan - skirts, dresses, even pjs! I just love how it's so easy to wear and literally suits everyone.

Love From Lisa Fashion The Tartan Scarf

I love this scarf and I've been so excited at the thought of being able to dig it out again. I bought it last year when I was in Venice - from H&M, how cultured am I?! It's so thick & cosy - when it's unfolded it's actually more like a blanket, so it's perfect for those cold wintery days.

Love From Lisa Fashion The Tartan Scarf

I love teaming it with a simple, casual outfit. I bought this pretty top this weekend and I really like the detail at the back and the shimmery, metallic material. I love how it looks with a casual pair of jeans but I'm also thinking it'll be cool with some black leather-look trousers & ankle boots.
